School Board candidates seeking volunteers
Ballots for the November general election will be arriving in your mail in just about one month, and two KCDP-endorsed candidates are welcoming volunteers to boost their candidacies via a Postcard Campaign. Kris Ostness (Pos. 1) and Matt Byrne (Pos. 2) are competing to win seats on the White Salmon Valley School District Board of Directors. Kris and Matt need volunteers to write to voters within the district who would likely support them--could you be one of those volunteers?
Volunteers will receive a packet of 20 to 25 postcards, along with the names and addresses of voters to whom they'll be writing and a few talking points. Postcards will be distributed to volunteers in late September/early October, with the goal of getting the postcards completed and mailed by Oct. 14-16. Already, about 30 individuals have volunteered! Kris and Matt especially looking for volunteers who reside within the WSVSD boundaries in these precincts: Husum, Fruit Valley, North Fruit Valley, White Salmon, North White Salmon, Mt. Brook, and Bingen.
If you haven't already let us know you're volunteering, please send us an email to let us know.
The League of Women Voters is sponsoring a candidate forum for WSVSD Board of Director candidates at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 5, at the White Salmon City Council chambers at the White Salmon fire station. The three candidates who've RSVP'd are Kris and Matt and Laurie Stanton (Position 4)--and all three are candidates that the KCDP supports. Kris, Matt, and Laurie invite you to attend.
Those of you living within the Lyle S.D. boundaries can help a couple of excellent candidates in a different way--at a "Meet and Greet," tentatively scheduled 4-6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 26. Two candidates whom the KCDP supports, John Hadley (Pos. 1) and Marc Harvey (Pos. 4) will be there. If you'd like to know more about this event, please reply to this email.
