Welcome to the Klickitat County Democratic Party

A letter to the Editor from a Sunnyside voter:

It seems like our country is on "auto-pilot" as we face a $40-Trillon Dollar federal deficit, with that amount rising quickly with the endless war in Iran. Many people predict that Iran will not negotiate with the underhanded Trump, and that the war will continue until the end of his term in 2029.

Some economists say that the U.S.'s capabilities to face challenges will be severely compromised if the federal deficit goes up to $45 Trillion (110% of GNP). We are likely to find out in the next year! The U.S. government is already trading in old bonds at 1.5% for new bonds at 5%. That is the only way Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent could get needed financing. The cost of interest on our national debt is already the biggest portion of the federal budget, and this cost is likely to explode in the next couple of years with higher interest rates! A rational strategy to get our government out of this impending crisis is to significantly increase taxes on our richest corporations and Americans, but this is unlikely with Trump.

Perhaps the results of the November elections will jolt the Washington elites to realize people are very upset and angry. We need to get out the vote, and make Republicans pay for what they have done to this country!

Let's get out the vote, and force a Blue Tsunami in November!

Feel free to use this letter as inspiration, or just copy & paste it in your own local newspaper editorial request form. Keep up the good fight to save our nation!

Tuesday, November 3, 2026 is the General Election. Be sure your ballot is in the box before 8:00 pm.

I’m delighted to say that, according to the WA Secretary of State, in the 2026 Primary Election, Klickitat County turned from Red to Purple. Democratic candidates did well in every race, and especially our friend, John Duresky, in the fight for CD4.

Democracy requires our participation; our informed participation. So get involved, ask questions, decide what kind of governance you want to see, and VOTE like your life depended on it.

Protests across America as hundreds of thousands turned out in their communities to exercise their right to free speech. Peaceful rallies across the Nation, because we will not be silent while the Constitution and Rule of Law are threatened.

We know our rights.
