Local fair attendees share their top concerns
We asked visitors to our booth at the Klickitat County Fair to put a bead into two out of eleven jars, each of which identified an important issue. Please note that fair goers tend to be conservative, although we had plenty of Democratic visitors. Here are the results:
1. Childcare and Health Care, 36 beads each
2. Climate Change & Protecting Social Security, 35 each
3. Housing, 31
4. Infrastructure, 20
5. Gun safety, 19
6. Protecting Democracy, 17
7. Women's Reproductive Rights, 15
8. Immigration, 10
9. Workers' right to organize, 8
Nearly 200 individuals participated in the KCDP Booth's "Bead Jar Survey" at Bingen's Huckleberry Festival Sept. 8-10. The survey allowed participants to select their top two issues among the eleven identified by labels on jars. They could put both beads in one jar or one each in two jars. Here are the total votes per issue: Climate Change-94, Women's Reproductive rights-63, Healthcare and Gun Safety-52 each, Housing-32, Childcare-31, Protecting Social Security-27, Immigration-15, Workers' Rights to Organize-7, and Infrastructure-6. Missing: votes in the "Protecting Democracy" jar. (Somehow, we lost that count in the counting of the beads)
We also added another 20 individuals to our Email Alert subcriber list. Thanks to all the Huckfest volunteers!
