Betsy Shedd resumes role as PCO

Betsy Shedd sees an alarming trend in our county and in many parts of our nation as a motivation to return to serving as a PCO.

“I’ve always been one who believes in the symbioses of opposites,” she said. “We’re becoming very right-wing in this community, which does not allow for an opposite. That is a recipe for the complete failure of a democracy.”

Betsy believes the stakes are high. “It’s do or die now for democracy. It really is. That’s the reason I’m back in. The other side is doing things to intimidate us, hoping we’ll give up. It’s not just here in our county. It’s everywhere.”

During her previous stint as a PCO, Betsy was chosen as a Hillary Clinton delegate representing Klickitat County, participating in the state convention to select delegates for the national convention.

Outside the political arena, Betsy is a whitewater boater. “I run rivers. I take people down for free. I think people should have access to that. If we get out in nature, we start to understand the real priorities.”
