You can make a difference

At her convention speech in August, Michelle Obama encouraged us to "do something." Canvassing is one of the most effective election activities you can do. Research shows that canvassing can increase turnout by 6 to 7 percent.

We'll be knocking on the doors of voters who lean Democratic to encourage them to vote and to provide them with information about candidates. As a canvasser, you'll be paired with another volunteer, and you'll receive trainiing and support. You'll have some campaign literature to leave with voters or at the doors for those folks who are not home.

Please click on the following canvassing link to learn more about where and when we'll be canvassing between now and the November 5 election date. You'll be able to sign up for the dates that work for you.

The down-ballot races in our area of Washington are super tight. Your participation as a canvasser might make the difference between winning and losing.

What we're learning from canvassing in Klickitat County

In addition to the special canvass described above, we're in the midst of a "Get Out The Vote" canvass campaign throughout the county. We canvassed in Goldendale and White Salmon last week, and we noticed a theme from talking with voters in both locations. The voters with whom we interacted support the Harris/Walz ticket, but they don't know anything about any of the down-ballot races, from WA State governor down to the Legislative District offices.

That means we're talking to the right people. We've been able to let them know about these down-ballot races, and we've left them with campaign literature for Marla Keethler, our endorsed candidate for LD 17 senator, and Terri Niles, our endorsed candidate for the LD 17 House position 2 seat. It's important to tout these candidates, because their opponents have long track records against women's reproductive rights, among other records contrary to Democratic positions.
