First Klickitat County Dems Meeting of 2024
The Klickitat County Democrats will hold their first quarterly meeting of 2024 on March 4 at the High Prairie Fire Hall and Community Center, 701 Struck Road, Lyle. We'll begin with potluck-style appetizers and socializing at 6 p.m. County commissioner candidate Amanda Kitchings will address our group at about 6:30, and we'll start our meeting afterward. We hope to be finished by about 7:30 p.m. As for the potluck at 6 o'clock, bringing something simple will be just fine. We'll have water, cups, plates, and utinsils. If you want to bring your own beverage, it must be non-alcoholic.
KCDP Volunteers having an impact: More than 20 individuals have signed up to write Letters to the Editor to local newspapers! Last week, letters by Janet Holen and Steve Heitmann appeared in the Goldendale Sentinel. Look for more letters every week. Let's give a special recognition to Mark Browne and Sue Kusch for leading this team.
Support abortion funds for the long run: (from the Columbia Gorge Women's Action Network) After a spike in donations after the Dobbs ruling, many abortion funds are running out of money—and the number of people in need continues to increase. Consider making a recurring monthly donation to our regional abortion fund, the Northwest Abortion Access Fund; to one of the organizations that has had to temporarily suspend services, such as the Indigenous Women Rising Abortion Fund or the Mountain Access Brigade; or to the Collective Power Fund of the National Network of Abortion Funds. (Sign up here for regular action alerts from Columbia Gorge Women’s Action Network)
There are still delegate slots open for anyone who wants to run to be a delegate for our Legislative District (LD). Those elected as LD delegates can choose to run to be a delegate at the DNC National Convention. Whether or not an elected delegate wants to run to be a national delegate, LD delegates will be the ones to elect 60 members of Washington State's national delegation. For more information, check out our "Email Alert" from Feb. 17. You can learn more from the WA State Democrats' "Run for Delegate" link, and you are also very welcome to reply to this email if you'd like to chat about this opportunity.
Bob Ferguson signs are here! Get your free Bob Ferguson sign from Shelley Baxter's green barn up at the top of the driveway, 1006 NW Cherry Hill Road, White Salmon. Please write your name on the clipboard that will be hanging near the signs. For those of you living in the Goldendale area, we hope to have a pickup point for Ferguson yard signs soon. Reply to this email if you need assistance in getting a sign.
